Editorial: Israeli Relations

Sadly, this speech was made just before Netanyahu’s visit to the White House where he was rudely treated and abused by the President of the United States.  Yes, our president invited the head of state of a major ally to our home and then rudely left him alone to go dine with his family.   This was the equivalent of taking a dump on Benjamin Netanyahu and the State of Israel and I would love for my Jewish friends to explain to me under this circumstance how they could possibly vote Democrat in any election.   George W Bush was among the greatest friends Israel ever had and he has been replaced by a rank amateur whose political leanings are closer to those of Hamas or Hezbollah.

Obama's position is that Israel must make more concessions.  How many concessions must Israel make while getting nothing in return?  Was it not telling enough that the Carter Administration elevated Yassir Arafat to the status of world leader when it was his own Palistinian Liberation Army that began the modern day slaughter of Israeli's by the organization's attack on Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Summer Olympics?   Was it not enough that during the Clinton Administration Arafat rejected a peace offer that ostensibly handed Arafat everything he had asked for?   Arafat was a terrorist from the date he entered politics until his death and the foreign policy our country promoted was to treat him as a world leader and insist that Israel negotiate peace with him.

I contend that the only way for the US to help the peace effort in the Middle East is to stay out of Israel's way and provide Israel all the military arms support and cooperation they might request.  But Obama will not do this.  There are even men in Obama's administration that suggest shooting down any Israeli aircraft that might take action against a pre-nuclear Iran.  It is reprehensible that a man like Obama was elected president and this must be corrected in 2012.

Israel gets nothing in return? they get away with super high salaries and military all based on the BILLIONS sent annually there by the American taxpayer. they need to start adhering to UN resolutions if they wish to stay in the UN, and stop bulldozing occupied lands. they had a border drawn and they have chosen to go beyond it. It was salt enough in the wounds of Arabs to see Israel founded to begin with, then after losing wars the Israelis took even more land. And they continue to oppress the Palestinians. Enough is enough, 9/11 didn't just happen because of some "evil" people - these people truly believe and see that Israel, supported by the US, is oppressing the Palestinians and it must end. Evil people want to hag around and see the destruction - these people gave their lives for a cause. I am not saying it was a totally just cause, but it is not my cause, so who am I to judge? If people are willing to die for their beliefs then there must be some conviction.. and if there is such conviction, there must be some valid reasons.... We give Israel too much credit (in more ways than one).

Israel has been tremendously patient.  The United States continually coaxes them into giving up land for peace, land that was won because of war in which Israeli blood was spent.  In each of these wars, Israel was never the aggressor.

I ask what they get in return from the Palestinians or other neighbors, not from the UN or the United States?  The agreement that they continually seek is one of peace between neighbors.  They need neighbors who will accept their existence without lobbing mortars over their borders and without the constant threat of full attack.  They need neighbors who will use opportunities for peace as something more than an opportunity to regroup, heal wounds, gather munitions and prepare for their next attack.

Please, do not tell me about oppressed Palestinians.  Israel has gone way beyond the bounds of patience with the mad fools who we call Palestinians.  Just who is a Palestinian anyway?  They are a people without citizenship in any country who in one breath state they want a Palestinian state but who seem to possess more of a love for destroying Israel than they do for their own stated goal.  They elect terrorist leaders who when offered what seemed like near capitulation to their demands rejected them with a preference for a continued war with Israel.  Yasser Arafat was an extremely ugly man both inside and out.  He was a terrorist that the world elevated to the status of diplomat.  At some point the citizens of a community must accept responsibility for their leaders.

You reference UN Resolutions that Israel must adhere to.  I'd ignore those worthless UN Resolutions myself.  The resolutions you speak of dictate terms to Israel that are to the detriment of their national security and indeed to their survival.  These resolutions are prepared and voted upon by the enemies of Israel then given the stature of the UN.  See Platform Item 30. http://theteapartyplatform.com/2010/07/26/platform-item-30--united-nations.aspx

This platform encourages the removal of the UN from New York.  Let some other country have them.  The UN was created to solve problems but instead they create them or they exacerbate them because of the hatred that is nurtured within the actively terrorist muslim members and other totalitarian governments of the world.  Those enemies of Israel who give their lives for a cause do so not for the cause of Palestine.  If that were the cause this would all be over.  No, their motivation is Allah and their cause is jihad.  They wish to wipe all infidels off the face of the earth.  And John, don't think this doesn't include you.  They would regard your lack of a religion as heresy in the same way as they would regard any Christian because neither of us believes in Allah or want to live in the 7th Century.

I admire Israeli's like Netanyahu who have shown both strength and patience.  My biggest fear is that we will force them to be too patient and it will be to the detriment of their country and their people.
