Platform Item 27: Immigration Enforcement

The federal government shall immediately use all tools and resources at its disposal, including military, to defend its borders and halt the influx of people, terrorist resources and drugs into this country.

Argument

See http://theteapartyplatform.com/2010/04/29/editorial--qué-pasa.aspx

Although this argument concerns only illegal immigration the problem of unsecured borders also extends to persons who would do this country harm whether through the incursion of criminals and terrorists or those promoting the drug trade.

Definitely sounds like a worthy cause.
However, administrations of BOTH parties appear to disagree. I noticed many years ago that information which would identify illegals was TOTALLY ignored by the government.
I had cause, due to my employment, to check social security numbers. I personally observed one social security number being used by 46 different people.
I also determined that my youngest child's social security number was being used by another individual, even before she had any cause to use it herself. This was reported to the Social Security Administration, who took no action.
Apparently the government (BOTH PARTIES) KNOW, or CERTAINLY SHOULD KNOW, who many of these people are AND where they live and work!!!!
I think these people may be perceived as helping our economy. Otherwise, why would their existence be completely ignored.
Would be interesting to see if this can be changed.

      Curious,

I could not agree more with your comment that BOTH PARTIES are guilty of looking the other way on this issue.  It is among the reasons why the Tea Party was conceived.   Just as we have Democrats who push for amnesty to assist them to ultimately increase their vote rolls, Establishment Republicans also push for amnesty for similar reasons regardless of the name they prefer to use as its label.

I have heard no objections to eventually creating a visitor work program that would not include families and that would require seasonal workers to return at the end of their season.   I have heard no objection in the Tea Party to increasing immigration quotas.   It is however our fervent belief that those who are currently here illegally must go home and get in line to come back in a manner that is respectful of our immigration laws.
