It should take a lot to surprise anyone anymore when it comes to politics.   It is unfortunate that politics is so downright ugly.  The constant barrages of character faults put before prospective voters by candidates against their opposition candidates is an almost 24/7 activity.   It is difficult to separate truth from innuendo or factual statement from exaggeration. 

Regardless, I must ask the question of Fremont, CA voters how they could possibly have continued to reelect Peter Stark now for 38 years?   He holds town hall meetings and ridicules his own constituents either directly or by trivializing their points of view.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsBP2sbhjCA&feature=related
