Enemies
President Obama is playing racial politics. Could he be any more divisive or disgusting in either his policies or his rhetoric? Yesterday he spoke to a group of Hispanics and described Republicans as their "enemies".
en·e·my
noun \ˈe-nə-mē\
plural en·e·mies
Definition of ENEMY
1
: one that is antagonistic to another; especially : one seeking to injure, overthrow, or confound an opponent
2
: something harmful or deadly <alcohol was his greatest enemy>
3
a : a military adversary b : a hostile unit or force
Are Republicans antagonistic to Hispanics? No. We are antagonistic toward people who break our laws and enter this country without invitation.
Do we seek to injure or overthrow or confound Hispanics? No. There is no intent to injure anyone. We simply ask that our laws be respected by everyone and that those who wish to enter this country do so through a process that is embedded in our immigration laws.
Do we regard Hispanics as harmful or do we see them as a military adversary? Again, no.
So, how does President Obama conclude that all but Democrats are their enemy? And why would a President who campaigned as a post racial president and the only person in America who was capable of uniting this country choose to do something as dastardly as pit races against one another and point toward Republicans as though they are all white and all responsible for what ails Americans of Hispanic origin? In my lifetime I have never seen an American President attempt to play racial politics in such a horrid and truly deplorable way.
I can conclude only one thing from this. President Obama is guilty of racism.

So... there is no platform. I have read lots of good ideas regarding the libertarian position. But mostly what I am seeing is that this idea has been hijacked by a bunch of angry, mostly white people.

I can't dispute that we are mostly white people - so is the entire US population.
I can't dispute that we are angry. Yes, we have reason to be angry. We have been ignored for two years as our "representatives" held town hall meetings to voice our concerns and the position of this country has been polled many times to demonstrate that we do not want socialized medicine, we do not want selective enforcement of our laws and we do not like 10% unemployment exacerbated by the policies of this administration and this Congress. Yes, we are angry. Shouldn't you be too?

This is my first visit. I came here wishing to know more about the Tea Party platform. I read a few posts first.
I had to laugh...this group wants LESS government. But "those who wish to enter this country [should] do so through a process that is embedded in our immigration laws."
So you really do depend on and appreciate government intervention...it just should be your version of it? Sounds like the other two major parties to me.
I've also been told that the Tea Party is NOT Republican. But your latest posts do nothing but bash and ridicule the President and Democrats. Are you serious about the Republican statement above? And how is a newbie like me supposed to believe you.
Lastly, I am about as "White" "American" and "Middle Class" as one can get. I own a small farm in the middle of nowhere Northern Minnesota. I have never lived more than 20 miles from both sets of grandparents. I'm Lutheran Christian, live right next door to my parents farm, have three teen aged sons, been married to their father for 17 years, own my own home, go deer hunting (on my own land), and own guns.
In theory, I suppose I appreciate some of your ideas...but the Tea Party voice sounds just like Politics to me...ugly, self-righteous, and full of blame.

One must first understand that there is not one Tea Party. There are many Tea Party organizations and many beyond that who simply identify with the movement. Put an emphasis on movement here. This blog is predominantly the work of one person. There is no formal Tea Party or Tea Party Platform. This is merely a set of ideas as to what I and my contributors believe should be included in a "Tea Party Platform."
No, the Tea Party is not Republican but many who are Republicans are likely comfortable in the Tea Party because the Tea Party movement is very traditional and conservative. We are not anti-government but we do believe in enforcement of our laws. This would then naturally include immigration laws. These laws are not "my version" of how immigrants should enter this country. We are simply asking that people obey the laws. This is "your version" as well.
In large part we are Constitutionalists who believe that if it isn't an enumerated power in the Constitution then the Federal Government ought not to be doing it. The 10th Amendment reserves all powers not enumerated in the Constitution to reside with the states and the people. Thus when we see an individual who promotes interference in the healthcare relationships between the individual and his/her doctor, when we see a takeover by the government of two major automakers, when we see a government that threatens to tax carbon emissions and that wishes to declare a substance as common as carbon dioxide as a pollutant, we have to ask who are these people and under whose authority do they pretend to be able to dictate to me in this way? We are conservative.
The complaints you read on these pages that are directed toward Democrats and specifically the President are directed at them because they are the perpetrators of the aggressive threat that is currently present in our government that is usurping our rights, taxing our incomes and apparently even threatening to nationalize our individual retirement plans. So you are right that much of our criticism is directed at Democrats but you would be wrong to assume that Republicans are receiving a free ride. The former President Bush has received considerable criticism over his own ideas that increased the size of government. His ideas are not now and truly never were as threatening as Barack Obama. I for one regard Obama as a Marxist and you will likely see references throughout to that point.
