Obama's Intellectual Plane
I listened to Juan Williams on Sunday morning state that Sarah Palin would be a poor GOP Presidential Candidate because she would not be on the same intellectual plane as is Barack Obama. I am so grateful for this. Sarah Palin has demonstrated that she can take on the Republican establishment of Alaska and win. She demonstrated that she can take on the Alaskan oil companies and win. She has demonstrated the intelligence to wait until she accomplished something in life before writing an autobiography. Similarly, if she runs for President she will also have accomplished something in life before running for President.
Let's look at Barack Obama. What is his intellectual plane? I can only think of two fictional characters who are on the same intellectual plane as Barack Obama, Tom Grunick and Ted Baxter. These were the news characters portrayed by William Hurt in Broadcast News and Ted Knight on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. All three have this thing in common. All three have/had wonderful voices, great oratory inflection and are all equally able to read a script written by someone else from a teleprompter.
The only measure of intelligence that people continually point to for Barack Obama is that he is a Harvard Graduate. Given that we have never seen a written transcript of his work there or at any other school and given that he published nothing while the Editor of the Harvard Law Review all we can state with any certainty at all is that he was admitted and we understand he graduated. One would also have to subscribe to the notion that any Harvard graduate is more intelligent than any graduate of any other school in the nation, for example Boise State. I am not willing to jump to such a conclusion because I firmly believe the opposite to be true. I have no question but that many of those who graduate Harvard are the cream of the crop from an educational point of view but not all. I also do not confer this statement to the cream of Harvard being intellectually superior to the graduate from any and every other university. Intelligence is inherent in an individual. Education is something that is gained by learning. Thus the same intellectual plane would have no bearing on whether the individual is educated or not let alone where he / she was educated.
I have no preferred candidate yet for President in 2012 but I am looking at the Republicans. I have no doubt whether it be Newt Gingrich, Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney or anyone else that is often spoken of that they will be the intellectual equal of Barack Obama...... and then some.
Gee, you're a Republican and all of a sudden you're able to spell 'intellectual'. Get over "Mary Tyler Moore" as any freakin' comparison you're trying to make about anything. American Brain-Dead-Time-Lock is all you're promoting.
