More than twenty years ago Dan Quayle was scorned for referencing statistics that from a macro perspective told the story of single motherhood in America.   He asked that popular television shows like Murphy Brown not glamorize or encourage illegitimate births.  Candace Bergen scornfully lashed out at the Vice President arguing a micro perspective that had absolutely no relevance in the argument.   We probably all knew of "an example" where a single mother whether by chance or choice bore an illegitimate child and successfully raised that child to adulthood.  Regardless when looking at the entire population the likelihood of success or anything other than sentencing mother and children to continuing poverty was low.   The statistics he was looking at back then were likely similar to the statistics that Ann now identifies as having occurred during better days.   One only has to wonder whether Candace Bergen will come out and attempt to scour Ann Coulter for this article.  It would be good for Bergen to remain low as the statistics are not on her side.
