Ron Paul

I listened attentively to Ron Paul on Sunday morning and once again he raised the red flag with me that continues to prevent me from taking his candidacy seriously.   Where I agree with him on most economic issues he eventually turns to his isolationist form with comments about the affordability of a particular platform item if we would simply stop our war mongering in the Middle East.   I strenuously resent Ron Paul or anyone else laying an accusation on our country that we are "war mongering".

I harbor other concerns about Representative Paul and his libertarian roots, namely his lack of concern as to whether Iran gets a nuclear bomb.   Doe he truly believe that if they successfully become a nuclear nation that they won't use such a weapon on Israel or this country?    I also object to his attitude regarding US policy on narcotics and other illegal drugs.   The notion that an individual of majority age should be able to purchase heroin over the counter without recognition that this would make access easier for high school and junior high school age children appalls me.

I believe we have some fine candidates, any of which are preferable to Barack Obama, that deserve to be taken seriously.   I applaud Romney, Perry, Bachmann, Cain, Santorum, and Gingrich.   I would also welcome others as I strive to make my own mind up as to who I will support.  The one thing I know for certain is that I cannot support Ron Paul and I cannot support Jon Huntsman.
